picBilly Marcus, jazz pianist,, began his professional career in 1968 in the Boston Cape Cod area of Massachusetts where he also worked with the late great Bobby Hackett.

In 1974, Marcus moved to Miami where he formed his own quartets and quintets. He did regularly scheduled live radio broadcasts television, and all of Miami and South Florida’s major festivals.

In his hotel and club work, he played with some of the biggest names in Jazz. He worked opposite Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie, The Bill Evans Trio, The Horace Silver Quintet, McCoy Tyner, Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Band, Maynard Ferguson, Dexter Gordon and Sonny Rollins.

As a house band, he worked with Scott Hamilton, Al Grey, James Moody, Jack Sheldon, Pepper Adams, Mark Murphy, Eddie “Clean-head” Vinson, Kai Winding, Terry Gibbs, Richie Cole, Buddy DeFranco and many more.

In addition to club work he has appeared in concert with (or opened for) such jazz greats as The Buddy Rich Big Band, Woody Herman, Grover Washington, Freddy Hubbard, Stanley Turrentine, Spyro Gyra, Doc Sevrenson, Ramsey Lewis and Kenny Burell.

In 1982, Marcus was named Miami’s Best Musician by Miami/South Florida Magazine. Billy Marcus also has several record albums, “The Last Ride On The Bus” and several tapes including one done in Hollywood, California with bassist Eugene Wright (formerly with Dave Burbeck) and drummer Jimmy Smith. In 1996, Billy Marcus recorded a CD for Fantasy Records titled 'Hamp' which reached #32 on The Billboard Jazz Charts.

He has appeared not only in Miami and Boston, but has played engagements as well in New York and Europe (Switzerland and France). Billy Marcus has appeared at dozens of jazz festival including: North Sea Jazz Festival Netherlands, Bern Jazz Festival Switzerland, Toronto Jazz Festival Canada, Monterey Jazz Festival California, New Orleans Jazz Festival Louisiana, Miami Jazz Festival Florida, Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival Washington.

Billy Marcus has also appeared in numerous clubs in Paris, London, Rome, Amsterdam, Zurich, Bern (Europe), Shanghai, Hong Kong, Bangkok (Asia) Dubai (Middle East) New York, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington, Miami, etc.

Billy Marcus has played for major hotels around the world that include: Ritz-Carlton’s Hotel, The Four Seasons Hotels, Hyatts, Hiltons, Shangri-La's, Sheratons, Marriott. His most recent engagements include: 2 years, one month Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, China 18 months Grand Hyatt Dubai U.A.E.
